Snakes in a fire: Lehi firefighters rescue serpents from fiery fate

An early Friday morning fire burned one Lehi apartment unit and filled several others with smoke, but no injuries were reported — not even to seven near-fiery serpents.

The blaze, of undetermined cause, flared shortly before 8 a.m. near 400 North and 500 West.

Lehi Fire Department officials confirmed the pet snakes survived. None were reported to be venomous.

The Utah Red Cross reportedly was providing aid to several residents displaced by the fire.
