A multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 80 near the Tooele-Salt Lake County line had blocked three lanes of travel, temporarily shutting down the freeway Monday afternoon.

No details of the 2 p.m. accident were immediately available, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said. However, some initial information indicates that several people may have suffered serious injuries. An ambulance had been dispatched from Tooele to the scene, Royce said.

The Utah Department of Transportation website indicates the agency anticipates the highway to be closed for about two hours.

Additional information about this accident will be posed as it becomes available.
