A Cache County search and rescue team will try again Monday to find a man missing near Logan Canyon as heavy snow blankets the mountains.

Lawrence Orduno, 48, and Courtney Wood, 27, started snowmobiling at about 6 p.m. Saturday from the Franklin Basin area, near the Utah-Idaho border. They became separated at about 10 p.m. after Wood was caught in deep snow, Cache County Sheriff's Lt. Doyle Peck said in a press release. Wood is familiar with the area and searched for Orduno, who is not, but was unable to locate him.

At about 3 a.m., Wood flagged down a driver in Logan Canyon. By 5 a.m., the Cache County Sheriff's Office had started its search for Orduno as heavy snow began to fall. As of about 3 p.m. Sunday, 18 inches of fresh powder had fallen on the area since the search began, Peck said.

The search was called off at about 7 p.m. Sunday due to snowfall and will resume about 7 a.m. Monday. Parks and recreation staffers plan to groom trails in the area during the night in order to aid searchers, Peck said.

The team is receiving help from the Franklin County, Idaho, Sheriff's Office, which is searching its side of the state line. Rescue teams from Box Elder County and Rich County searched on the Utah side, Peck said.
