The National Weather Service is predicting weekend high temperatures from the 40s to the low 50s along the Wasatch Front, with rain in the valleys and snow in the mountains, likely starting on Saturday night and continuing on Sunday.

A winter storm warning for heavy snow and strong winds above 7,000 feet will go into effect at midnight Saturday and continue until 6 p.m. Monday. The affected areas — the Wasatch and western Unitas mountain ranges and the northwestern portions of the Wasatch plateau — are expected to be hit with 10 to 20 inches of snow.

A backcountry avalanche watch was in effect Saturday. The watch does not include ski areas or highways subject to avalanche control.

The weekend lows will range in the low 30s to low 40s in most Wasatch Front locales, according to the weather service.

Temperatures in southern Utah's St. George are predicted to climb to the mid 50s on Saturday and around 60 on Sunday, with lows from the mid 30s to about 40. Weekend temperatures should reach the upper 40s to low 50s and drop to the low 30s in Kanab and Escalante.
