An early morning, two-alarm fire in Orem has been characterized as "suspicious," and likely a case of arson.

Orem Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Peterson said the blaze, which caused an estimated $1 million in damage to a two-story condominium complex under construction, was reported about 2:30 a.m. Friday.

Aided by crews from neighboring Provo, Orem firefighters finally doused the flames in the area of 900 N. State about 5 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation, but preliminary indications were that it was intentionally set and that accelerants were used, Peterson said. There was no gas or power going to the building, Peterson added.
