An Indiana woman wanted her dog cremated and buried with her after she died — it's even in her will.

But the dog — a German Shepherd named Bella — is still alive, and reportedly could end up at a Utah animal shelter, according to The Indianapolis Star.

But as of Wednesday afternoon, neither the Utah Humane Society or Best Friends Animal Society said they had been contacted by anyone in Indiana.

Connie Lay, who passed away on Nov. 25, wanted the dog's ashes put with her own, according to The Indianapolis Star.

The dog is currently being cared for at PAWS of Dearborn County Humane Society in Lawrenceburg, Ind., but the canine's fate remains unclear.

PAWS said in a written statement that the dog is legally considered the property of the estate of the deceased person and not the PAWS Humane Center.

"He is only being housed and cared for at our center while legal proceedings with the estate are being finalized," PAWS said.

Lay's lawyer said Bella is in the hands of Lay's friends, who have the option to send her to an animal shelter in Utah if they can raise enough money, according to The Indianapolis Star.

The dog's supporters have taken to using #SaveBella on Twitter in hopes of finding her a home.
