Police were looking Monday for a suspect in a west Salt Lake City shooting that sent a man to the hospital.

The victim was shot in the face about 7 a.m. Sunday near 400 South and 400 West, but did not suffer life-threatening injuries and was expected to recover.

The man told police that he was standing in a parking lot when the suspect drove up, produced a handgun, fired once and sped away.

The suspect is described as a black male, driving a white car with tinted windows. He was last seen driving south on 400 West and then westbound onto Interstate 80.
