West Jordan police have identified the man in a wheelchair who was struck and killed by a car, along with his 11-year-old son.

Todd Johnson, 44, and his son were traveling along 7800 South Saturday when a car hit them near the Mountain View Corridor (6300 West) just before 5:30 p.m., said West Jordan police Sgt. Dan Roberts. Police identified Johnson in a tweet Sunday morning, and relatives on Facebook identified his son as Levi Johnson.

The police department extended condolences to their family.

"In the midst of this tragedy here is some good news," Todd Johnson's wife Rhonda wrote on a memorial Facebook page. "[Levi's] heart is going to someone in need. That heart will continue to walk this earth with me daily. And his cornea's along with Todd Johnson's are also going to someone in need."

Another driver had reportedly stopped to ask Todd Johnson and his son if they needed a ride shortly before the crash happened, Roberts said. After they declined the offer, the driver kept going and saw them get hit, the sergeant said.

Parts of the stretch of 7800 South they were traveling on have sidewalks or shoulders, while sections lack one or both; Roberts could not confirm where the Johnsons were at the time they were hit.
