An approaching cold front will bring to an end to the unusually warm weather — which broke a Salt Lake City record on Friday — this weekend.

High temperatures reached 63 degrees on Friday in Salt Lake City, setting a record for Dec. 12. The old record for the day, 61 degrees, was set in 1995, according to the National Weather Service.

But meteorologists predict a cold front will bring a rain and snow mix on Saturday, with high temperatures expected to reach 46 degrees. Three to eight inches of snow is expected at higher elevations.

On Sunday, there is little chance of more precipitation, and the high temperature is expected to be 43 degrees.

In St. George, there is a 40 percent chance of rain expected over the next two days. High temperatures are expected to reach 64 degrees Friday, and 57 degrees throughout the weekend.
