A Box Elder County mom is facing felony charges after police say she took photos of her daughter naked and sold them.

The 45-year-old woman was charged earlier this month with nine counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, all second-degree felonies.

According to a probable cause statement filed in 1st District Court, police found 19 partially nude photographs of the woman's 5-year-old daughter on a Nintendo DSi, a hand-held gaming device.

Most of the photos show the girl's face and she is naked from the waist down. One photo depicts the girl lying on her back on a couch with her genitals exposed, according to court records.

The girl told police that her mother had taken the photos, printed them and "sold them to people for one hundred dollars."

When the mother was interviewed, she allegedly told police that she took five or six photos so that she could show her daughter what her private area looks like, according to court records. When an officer questioned her further, the mother invoked her right to remain silent.

The woman is expected to be in court Monday, when she is expected to decide whether she wants a preliminary hearing in the case.
