Police say an 18-year-old man was arrested and a juvenile was cited in a stabbing that happened across the street from the Mormon temple in Salt Lake City.

Detective Cody Lougy says the incident happened at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday. The 20-year-old victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.

Lougy says the confrontation began when two groups of people encountered each other near the reflecting pool in Temple Square.

Police say the groups met up again across the street, and that's where the stabbing happened.

The 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, unlawful consumption of alcohol and disorderly conduct. Lougy says a juvenile involved in the fight was cited and released to parents.
