West Valley City police have located a 13-year-old girl who was reported missing on Thursday.

Elexis Hernandez was found safe in Riverside, California with her non-custodial mother, according to police authorities.

She was last seen leaving Westlake Junior High School, at 3400 S. 3450 West, on Thursday at around 8:30 a.m. School surveillance cameras captured video of the girl exiting the south side of the building into the parking lot and towards a silver car.

Elexis lives with her father, who has sole custody of the girl. Police said the teen may have been trying to get to family members or acquaintances who live out of state, either in southern California or in Phoeniz, Ariz.
