Former Utah activist Diego Ibañez was arrested for allegedly throwing blood on New York Police Commissioner William Bratton, the New York Post reports.

The incident occurred during a Times Square protest Monday night following the announcement that Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson would not be charged with a crime in the death of Michael Brown.

Ibañez, 26, told The Tribune in 2011 that he was Born in Bolivia and raised in Utah. While living here, Ibañez was active with the immigration reform group called the Salt Lake Dream Team.

He was arrested in December 2010 for refusing to leave the offices of Sen. Orrin Hatch in an attempt to get the senator to publicly support the DREAM Act. Ibañez was also active with the Occupy Wall Street movement in New York. He and two other Utahns launched a hunger strike in December 2011 in order to get permission to open an Occupy campsite near Canal Street and Sixth Avenue, a piece of land owned by Trinity Wall Street, the real estate arm of an Episcopal church. They were arrested twice for trespassing during the strike.

In Monday's incident, Ibañez was booked for assault, obstructing governmental administration, disorderly conduct, harassment, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief, according to the Post.
