A new trial date has been set for an ambulance driver charged with negligent homicide after a 2012 fatal accident in South Ogden.

Sean Reed Stephens-Applonie, 30, is charged in Ogden's 2nd District Court with negligent homicide, a class A misdemeanor.

He made a brief appearance in court Wednesday, where a four-day trial was scheduled to begin June 25. He will be in court again on May 6 for a pretrial conference. Stephens-Applonie's trial has been rescheduled twice since charges were filed in January 2013, according to court records.

The July 7, 2012, accident killed 88-year-old Arline H. Logan, who was riding in a Buick going south from a side street through a green light onto U.S. 89, police have said.

Stephens-Applonie was driving an ambulance westbound with lights and sirens, and a critically injured car-crash patient on board, when it hit the Buick, South Ogden police Officer Marci Edwards has said.

The ambulance then crashed into two stopped cars in the eastbound lanes carrying four people.

Logan was taken to Ogden Regional Medical Center, where she died.

Stephens-Applonie was not hurt, but three other emergency medical responders were treated at McKay-Dee Hospital Center and Ogden Regional and released.

Three people in the stopped cars also were treated at McKay-Dee and released, according to police.

If convicted, Stephens-Applonie faces up to a year in jail.
