A man who fell while riding his motorized skateboard in Dry Creek Canyon was in serious condition Wednesday but expected to recover.

Utah County sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon said the man, in his early 20s, was riding along a mountain trail late Tuesday night when he tumbled about 30-40 feet. His cries for help were heard by passersby, who called 911.

Lindon and Orem police responded but could not safely reach the man. Members of the Utah County Search and Rescue unit were able to recover the victim about midnight.

Cannon said the man suffered a broken leg and lacerations to his thigh.

He remained in the hospital on Wednesday.
