Here is a listing of events being held across the state on Tuesday in recognition of Veterans Day.

• American Fork: A celebration featuring the American High School Marching Band is planned for 11 a.m. at the Alpine Tabernacle, 110 E. Main Street.

• Cedar City: Southern Utah University is holding a free benefit breakfast at the Alumni House, corner of 300 W. University Blvd.. At 10 a.m. is a flag raising ceremony at Veterans Park, 200 N. 200 East.

Lunch for veterans will follow at the Elks Lodge, 111 E. 200 North.

• Ivins: The Southern Utah Veterans Home, 160 N. 200 East, will hold a program from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

• Layton: A veterans observance will be held 10 to 11 a.m. at Central Davis Junior High School, 663 Church St.

• Midvale: The city will hold a memorial program at 11 a.m. at the Midvale City Cemetery at the Veteran's Memorial Monument, 445 W 7500 South. After the ceremony there will be a free pancake, egg, and ham breakfast at the Midvale Senior Center, located just across the park from the cemetery.

• Ogden: Weber State University will hold a Veterans Day celebration from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Ball Room, Building D3, 3910 W. Campus Drive

• Orem: Utah Valley University has ceremonies and fundraisers throughout the day. Keynote speaker Air Force Lt. Col. Jeff Peterson delivers remarks at 10 a.m. in the Student Center's Ragan Theater. For a full schedule, go to http://www.uvu.edu/hps/hps_events

• Payson: The Central Utah Veterans Home, 1551 N. Main St., will hold a program from 11 a.m. to noon.

• Provo: At 10 a.m., Timpview High School, 3570 Timpview Drive, will host a tribute that includes the national anthem from Madilyn Paige, of NBC's "The Voice." Veterans planning to attend the free luncheon should RSVP to 801-221-9720.

• Salt Lake City: The University of Utah will hold a full dress military ceremony and rifle salute at 11 a.m. in the Union Ballroom in the Student Union. Eleven veterans will be honored during the program. For more information, go to http://veteransday.utah.edu.

The Utah National Guard Veterans Day concert will be at 7 p.m. at the University of Utah's Huntsman Center, 1825 S. Campus Drive. The Utah National Guard's 23rd Army Band and the Granite School District high school combined choir will perform.

• At 1 p.m., Salt Lake City will break ground on the initial phase of First Step House, a substance abuse treatment facility that includes treatment for veterans. The groundbreaking is at 440 S. 500 East.

• Taylorsville: A parade begins at 11 a.m., stretching from the Taylorsville pool, 4914 S. 2700 West, to City Hall, 5400 S. 2700 West. A program begins 12:15 p.m. at City Hall. Sen. Orrin Hatch is the featured speaker.

• Tooele: A Veterans Day program and breakfast will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Dow James Memorial Park, 438 W. 400 North. A ceremony starts at 11 a.m.

• Riverton: A Veterans Day program will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Lloyd Community Center, 12830 S. Redwood Road.

Field of Flags

The National Ability Center is hosting its second annual Field of Flags to honor military veterans. Volunteers from Northrop Grumman will assist Colonial Flags in placing the 150 flags on the Miners Hospital grounds.

Tickets • Free

Tracy Aviary is honoring active military, veterans and first responders all month long with $1 admission. The $1 admission goes directly toward supporting conservation efforts for endangered bird species.

Supersonic Car Wash - Veterans Day

Supersonic Car Wash will be offering free car washes to retired and active duty military personnel at participating locations across the Wasatch Front.

Painting with a Twist - Veteran's Day Fundraiser

Painting with a Twist Murray/Salt Lake will participate in the company's system-wide fundraising event on Veterans Day, to benefit the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Guests can visit http://www.paintingwithatwist.com/events/viewEvent.aspx?eventID=297069 to sign up to attend the Veterans Day Painting with a Purpose class for $35.

Wild Wednesdays - In Honor: A Special Veterans Day Program

Come discuss the history of Veterans Day and meet the Ogden Nature Center's resident Bald Eagle, Des Ta Te, to honor veterans. A special flag ceremony will be presented by Girl Scouts. Free admission for veterans and current military members and their families. Please meet in the visitor center.
