The stage is now set for Cottonwood Heights to have a true City Hall of its own.
City officials looked on Monday as heavy equipment demolished an aging yellow-brick, split-level house at the corner of 2300 East and Bengal Boulevard (7695 South), the first of eight homes that will give way to construction of a new city headquarters.
Cottonwood Heights has rented its City Hall facilities since incorporating in 2005. But the rented space at 1265 E. Fort Union Blvd. was not adequate for the city's long-term needs and, in March, Mayor Kelvyn Cullimore and the City Council announced plans to build a City Hall on the five-acre site.
