Ogden police are asking for the public's help finding the vehicle they believe struck a skateboarder who later died.

A 16-year-old boy was riding the skateboard on 17th Street when an eastbound vehicle struck him in the 200 West block of the street sometime Saturday evening, according to an Ogden police news release. Investigators believe the driver fled the scene, the release adds.

Sometime later, police say a second vehicle then hit the boy at 11:43 p.m. That driver, a 43-year-old man, stayed on the scene and notified police, the release reads.

Medical personnel pronounced the boy dead at the scene. Police are waiting to release his name until they can notify his family.

Police have been collecting evidence at the site of the crash, but have yet to identify the suspect vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to call the Ogden City Police Department at 801-629-8221.
