Unified Police say when a Midvale man came home to find a male co-worker with his girlfriend, he retrieved a handgun, popped off a couple shots and then held the firearm to his rival's head.

UPD Lt. Justin Hoyal said both men then fled an apartment in the 600 East block of Fort Union Boulevard about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, each of them subsequently calling police. The alleged shooter was arrested at a relative's home, while officers interviewed the purported victim at a gas station near the crime scene.

Officer arrested the angry, 29-year-old boyfriend and booked him into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of third-degree felony counts of aggravated assault and domestic violence in the presence of a child, along with misdemeanor counts of discharging a firearm and using a weapon in a fight.

The man remained in jail Tuesday in lieu of $2,290 bail.
