Warm back, cold front. There's your weekend weather forecast for Utah in a meteorological nutshell.

High temperatures will hit the mid- to upper-70s along the Wasatch Front on Saturday, matching Friday's predictions — with Salt Lake City expected to flirt with the 78-degree record for Oct. 24. South winds both days will be in the 15-30 mph range.

Down south, in Utah's Dixie, the mercury is forecast to hit the low- to mid-80s over the same period.

Then, it gets colder, Utah's Indian Summer gone as quickly a jelly donut or macaroon at a church potluck dinner. Temperatures throughout northern Utah will tumble on Sunday into the mid- to upper-50s, accompanied by valley rainfall and snow in some high mountain locations.

Southern Utahns will see daytime temperatures slide into the 70s on Sunday, but the region will escape the precipitation of their northern cousins — along with freezing overnight lows expected elsewhere in the state.

The Utah Division of Air Quality awarded "green," or healthy grades for the entire state through the weekend.

Sagebrush and mold were at "moderate"levels as of Friday on the Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website's pollen index, but all other allergens were either very low or too low to register at all.
