A man remained in critical condition Thursday, the day after he was struck by a car while attempting to cross a dark southeast Salt Lake City street.

Salt Lake City police Detective Veronica Montoya said the 37-year-old man was not in a crosswalk when he tried to walk southbound from the corner of 1240 E. across 2100 South about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, roughly 20 minutes before sunrise.

Neither the female driver of the car nor her passenger were hurt.
