Police have identified a motorcyclist who died in a crash over the weekend in South Salt Lake.

South Salt Lake police Lt. Gary Keller said 39-year-old Justin Greaves of West Valley City was the victim of the 1:30 a.m. Saturday accident at 3900 South and 500 West.

Greaves was riding westbound on 3900 South when a car turned left in front of his bike to enter a gas station. Police said it appeared the rider tried unsuccessfully to lay the motorcycle on its side to avoid the collision.

Greaves, who was not wearing a helmet, died at the scene.
