A 45-minute SWAT stand off ended this morning after West Jordan and Sandy police officers entered a house and found the man they were attempting to make contact with was dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The man and his wife were having an argument just before 9 a.m. when he produced a gun. As his wife ran out of their house at 8375 S. 3200 West, she heard a single gunshot and called 911, said West Jordan police Lt. Dean Waters.

Both West Jordan and Sandy SWAT officers arrived on the scene and tried several times unsuccessfully to make contact with the husband.

About 45 minutes after receiving the initial call, the officers entered the house and found the husband.
