ST. POELTEN, Austria - Roman Catholic Church leaders in Austria formally installed a new bishop Sunday in a diocese rocked by the discovery of a vast cache of child pornography on computers at a seminary.
Klaus Kueng, a bishop in southwestern Austria who was sent by Pope John Paul II to investigate the scandal, was installed as the bishop of St. Poelten in this city 50 miles west of Vienna. Kueng succeeds Kurt Krenn, who resigned amid investigations by the Vatican and a federal prosecutor into the discovery of up to 40,000 lurid images - including child porn - at the diocese seminary last summer.
