COCHITI PUEBLO, N.M. » Police say they have found four sets of human remains inside a car that had been submerged in a central New Mexico lake for at least a year.
State police found the car Wednesday when they were searching Cochiti (KO'-chee-tee) Lake for another vehicle. The bodies were discovered Thursday when the car was pulled from the reservoir about 40 miles north of Albuquerque.
Albuquerque police spokeswoman Nadine Hamby says the car is registered to Richard Sanchez, who is accused of taking his sons Richard, Daniel and Christopher during a weekend custody visit. The boys were 12, 9 and 2 when they went missing in 2001.
Hamby says it's too early to confirm the identities of the bodies in the car.
