Rocky Mountain Raceways will hold a memorial barbecue and fundraiser Wednesday night for the family of Logan Emerson, the 8-year-old dirt bike rider who was killed last week in a crash at the track.

The event starts at 7 p.m. at the Rocky Mountain Raceway convention center, 6555 West 2100 South, West Valley.

Food and drinks will be available. Donations are welcome. Memorial T-shirts and stickers will be sold. A raffle for a new motorcycle, among other items, will also be held.

After dark, a candlelight vigil will be held in memory of Emerson, who died after crashing his 85cc Honda dirt bike on the raceway's motocross course.

Organizers of the event are asking those who plan to attend to RSVP by calling 801-252-9557.

All proceeds will go directly to the Emerson family through the Utah Motorsports Foundation.
