Michael Hughes is the event's chairman and a board member of the Utah Alcoholism Foundation.
The UAF is the umbrella organization for the House of Hope Salt Lake City, House of Hope Provo, Hope Center for Children in Salt Lake City, and Serenity House in Ogden.
The House of Hope is Utah's longest operating residential, day-treatment and outpatient substance abuse program for single women and women with children. The Ogden facility run by the UAF is for men and women.
In addition to substance abuse treatment, the UAF/House of Hope program teaches parenting and communication skills, group and family counseling, as well as substance abuse educational groups, life skills classes and relapse prevention education.
The goal is to help families bond and unite as productive members of the community.
"Grass courts only will be utilized for the volleyball event," said Hughes, "and the reverse coed format allows the women players to really show their skills."
Team check-in for the tournament will begin at 7:30 a.m. the day of the event. Preregistration entry fee will be $15 per person for UOVA members, $20 per person for non-UOVA members.
Day-of registration fees are $20 per person for UOVA members, $25 per person for non-UOVA members.
Sponsorships for the House of Hope Benefit Bash are available, and prizes for the players along with food and drinks are needed.
All registration fees, cash or in-kind donations are fully tax-deductible.
Volunteers are also needed for the event.
