Nature often inspires poetry.

That will certainly be the case starting March 2 as Zion National Park hosts its Poetry in the Park for the seventh year.

The event begins with a free lecture at 7 p.m. at the Canyon Community Center in Springdale with visiting poet Rosemary Wahtola-Trommer, Colorado's Western Slopes' Poet Laureate.

The event continues March 3 at 9 a.m. with a poetry workshop and guided nature walk through Zion Park. This is presented by the Utah Poetry Society in collaboration with Zion Park Historical Association and Zion Canyon Field Institute is sponsoring the workshop.

The fee is $50, which includes entrance to the park, a guided nature walk and a daylong workshop with Wahtola-Trommer.

The event continues March 4 when the Redrock Writers sponsors its annual Creative Writing Seminar in St. George's Social Hall from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Guest lecturers include prize-winning Utah poet Joel Long, novelist Tanya Sparker Mills and Wahtola-Trommer.
