Hunters who hope to draw a limited entry turkey permit for a spring hunt in Utah have until 11 p.m. Dec. 27 to get their application into the Division of Wildlife Resources.

The applications are available at http://www.wildlife.utah.gov.

"I think we'll have a good turkey hunt in Utah next spring," said Jason Robinson, upland game coordinator for the Division of Wildlife Resources. "The state's turkey populations are doing really well."

There are 742 permits in the northern region, 589 in the central, 461 in the northeastern, 575 in the southeastern and 2,150 permits in the southern available.

Those who don't draw a permit can still get a permit for the general statewide turkey hunt in May. There is no limit on general turkey hunting permits. Those permits go on sale Feb. 23.

Information on the turkey hunt is available in the 2016-2017 Utah Upland Game and Turkey Guidebook at http://www.wildlife.utah.gov/guidebooks. Hard copies are available at any DWR office or hunting and fishing license agent.
