There have been hints of winter coming, especially at the tops of the Wasatch Mountains.

And another sure sign is the fact that Ski Utah holds its annual media roundtable this week.

The event gives resorts and members of the media a chance to trade questions and ideas as well as offers an introduction to some new developments and trends in Utah skiing.

Most noteworthy is the announcement of when resorts have set opening days.

Some, like Brighton, Beaver Mountain, Powder Mountain, and Cherry Creek, won't announce opening dates because they open when snow conditions allow. Expect Brighton to be the first resort to open as soon as it can get enough snow on its slopes.

Many resorts hope to open November 18, the Saturday before Thanksgiving. These include Alta, Park City, Brian Head, Snowbird and Solitiude.

Snowbasin plans to open November 25.

Deer Valley has a December 3 opening date scheduled while Sundance would like to open December 9 and December 10 for Nordic Valley.
