Frontier Homestead State Park in Cedar City and its foundation are organizing the first annual Frontier Folk Festival June 17 and 18 and are looking to add artists and food vendors.

The event will feature original art, live music, traditional craft demonstrations, a frontier stew cook-off and a horseshoe tournament, all designed to celebrate southern Utah's diverse heritage.

"We've been talking about this idea for years," said park manager Todd Prince. "Working with our museum foundation, we finally decided to take the laps and offer a new experience to the community and all our patrons. It's shaping up to be a great opportunity for everyone."

Most vendor booths have been rented, but a few spots remain. All applications must be done electronically. For information, log on to http://frontierhomestead.org/arts-festival.
