The two Soldier Hollow golf courses have enjoyed a longer than normal season due to good weather but the season is starting to wind down.

The Gold Course will remain open until the snow flies after being closed the week of October 26 for maintenance. But players who want to play the Silver Close better hurry. It closes for the season Monday.

Beginning Monday, the gold course is reducing the 18-hole with cart fee to $38.

In other news from the state parks operated course, Soldier Hollow head pro Chris Newson received the 2015 Horton Smith Award from the Utah Section of the PGA. It recognizes Newson for improving educational opportunities for PGA professionals in Utah.

The pro served on the board of directors for the Utah Section the past year and was chair of the education committee.
