Escalante's Art Festival and Everett Ruess Days have slowly grown into a major event in the small southern Utah town.
The 12th annual event is underway with major events scheduled Friday and Saturday.
Events include a plain air painting competition, an arts and crafts sale, speaker series, exhibits, workshops, demonstrations and live music.
Story tellers and musicians Hal Cannon and Teresa Jordan are the featured keynote speakers Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Escalante High School Auditorium.
