Directions • The trailhead begins on the north side of Fish Lake Lodge at Fish Lake.
This is technically the second segment of a much longer trail that runs along the shoreline of Fish Lake. But this segment begins and ends with a lodge, with hot soup and sandwiches to reward your trek.
The easy path begins with a short, wooden bridge just north of Fish Lake Lodge, which spans a creek that — according to a sign — was once abundant with fish. From there, you'll wander past aspens carved with names and proclamations of love, high grasses that sway in the breeze, and little trails that branch off toward the lapping waters of the lake.
You'll be walking in the footsteps of many an explorer before you, too. An informational sign along the way points out that this path was once used by Utes, Mexican traders and American pioneers.
Once you see Bowery Haven Resort, turn around and head back to Fish Lake Lodge, where you can rest your feet and enjoy a hot meal.
