Colby Crossland says he has the best office in the world.

Crossland has been a fly-fishing guide on the Green River below Flaming Gorge Reservoir since 2010. Anglers have hooked a number of trophy trout from his boat, but that's not the most rewarding thing about being a guide, he says.

"I love it when at the end of the day they tell me they are a better angler," Crossland said. "That is more important than catching a million fish or putting a big one in the boat. When you teach somebody something they can use the rest of their life, well, for me, that just what being a guide is all about."

Crossland, who grew up in the Salt Lake Valley, became interested in guiding because a friend was working on the Green River.

"I didn't want to get roped into the daily cubicle thing," he said. "I get to be outside and hang out with people who enjoy the same things I do."
