John Williams Scholarship Fund established
The Utah Restaurant Association has established the John Williams Gastronomy Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will provide an annual scholarship to a student pursuing a business or culinary degree. The fund has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank and anyone is welcome to contribute, said association president Melva Sine, who announced the scholarship during the group's annual awards dinner. Williams, 72, was co-founder of Gastronomy, which runs the popular Market Street group of restaurants. He died last month in a fire at his Capitol Hill home. Police have ruled the death suspicious, and Williams' estranged husband is being held on charges of aggravated homicide and aggravated arson.
