Utah's only Greek Orthodox Mission Parish has found a new home — in a Catholic church.

The mission, founded last August by former members of Prophet Elias and Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox churches, has been meeting at The Woods on Ninth reception center in Midvale.

But on Saturday, more than 100 church members gathered for a Special Parish Assembly and voted unanimously to lease space from St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Cottonwood Heights.

The lease will be for an initial term of three years with two one-year options, at an annual rent of approximately $50,000, according to a statement from Charles Beck, president of the parish council for the mission church. In coming weeks, members will decorate the space with paint, new carpets, lighting and window coverings

"With God's blessing and guidance, we hope to be worshiping in our new space by Palm Sunday," Beck writes, "if not before."
