Catholic Community Services paid tribute Thursday night to a former Utah governor and a high-ranking LDS leader — along with their wives — for their humanitarian service.

Jon Huntsman and his wife, Mary Kaye Huntsman, as well as longtime Mormon apostle L. Tom Perry and his wife, Barbara Perry, were lauded as "humanitarians among us" during an awards dinner at the Little America Hotel in downtown Salt Lake City.

Mary Kaye Huntsman has launched two youth programs — called Bag of Hope and Power in You — the group said. "Together, Jon and Mary Kaye have worked tirelessly in public service and to help those in need."

The Perrys are known "for their humanitarian spirit and love," a CCS news release said, "for helping those in need."

Also honored: philanthropist Sam Skaggs' ALSAM Foundation as CCS "partner of the year" and volunteer Jan Luger as this year's "Unsung Hero."
