$16.99 • The mole de novia, or "mole of the bride," is a dining gem that can be found under the "Jewels of Mexico" portion of the menu at La Casa del Mole. A mole blanco, it features tender top sirloin sautéed with bacon, jalapeño strips, onions and tomatoes, resting on a bed of nutty, creamy mole, topped with Oaxaca cheese and garnished with fresh avocados. The spicy heat builds as you eat it, but it's worth the sweat. Use the housemade tortillas to sop up every last drop of this earthy, slightly fruity sauce. La Casa del Mole • 2477 Fort Union Blvd., Cottonwood Heights; 801-733-6653 (MOLE) or lacasadelmoleutah.com. Open Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
