ST. GEORGE - A court hearing to determine if a 15-year-old St. George boy should be tried as an adult for allegedly raping and murdering a 15-year-old girl at a city park was postponed Monday.

The teen's mother wants a new attorney for her son before the case proceeds. A frustrated 5th District Juvenile Court Judge Thomas Higbee said Monday he wants to hear the case again within 45 days.

Attorney Aric Cramer of St. George said the defendant's mother requested a new lawyer because they had a "difference of opinion."

A new lawyer, Alan Boyack, was appointed to defend the teen, who is charged with first-degree felony murder, rape and aggravated sexual assault in the death of Keely Amber Hall.

The St. George girl's partially clothed body was found Jan. 10 at Dixie Downs Park after police received an anonymous tip. Testimony from a preliminary hearing in June said Hall had been raped and strangled at the park.

Higbee has barred reporters from publishing the name of the defendant, who was 14 at the time of the crime. Prosecutors hope to try him as an adult in 5th District Court.

Washington County Attorney Brock Belnap said Monday he did not know when a new adult-certification hearing would be scheduled.

"We are looking forward to moving the case along to get justice for the [victim's] family," Belnap said.
