Two young girls were hurt, one seriously, when two cars crashed near where they were walking Saturday night, police said.

The pair, ages 10 and 13, were in a crosswalk near 900 West and 400 South when one car hit another car, sending the second vehicle hurtling toward the girls, said Salt Lake City Police Lt. Cal Kunz. It happened about 7:15 p.m.

The 13-year-old suffered serious injuries to her leg and back and the younger girl suffered a minor leg injury. Both were taken to Primary Children's Medical Center.

Their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening, Kunz said.
