A man was shot in the abdomen Wednesday during a gang-related dispute at a South Salt Lake bus stop, police said.

The victim, 20, was in a car that pulled up to a bus stop at 3300 S. 500 East about 11:45 a.m. A man at the bus stop spoke with someone inside the car, pulled a handgun out of a lunchbox and fired multiple shots into the car, said South Salt Lake police spokesman Gary Keller.

The car left the scene, and the suspected shooter walked away. Witnesses called police, who found the suspect within 15 minutes. He is a 26-year-old from Salt Lake City.

The victim, also of Salt Lake City, drove himself to a hospital; he has been treated and released, Keller said. He was the only person in the car at the hospital, but witnesses say they believe more than one person was inside the victim's car.
