Salt Lake County Sheriff's deputies are searching for a man who robbed a tobacco shop at gunpoint and used pepper spray to disable a store clerk during the crime.

A man entered the store at 320 E. 3900 South around 3:30 p.m., Saturday, said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Don Hutson. The man brandished a gun and sprayed the clerk with pepper spray before he ran off with an undisclosed amount of cash and tobacco products, Hutson said.

The suspect drove away in a white pickup truck. He is described as 6 feet tall with olive skin and a medium build, Hutson said.

The female clerk, who is the 45-year-old daughter of the store's owner, was treated after being sprayed, Hutson said.

Anyone with information about the robbery should call 801-743-7000.
