One woman was killed and more than a dozen others were hurt when two vehicles crashed recently in South Ogden.

About 11 a.m., Thursday, a Jeep Cherokee carrying five people was traveling eastbound on State Road 89, said police Sgt. Dave Labbe. A full-size van with 10 people inside was westbound. At the intersection with Skyline Drive, the Jeep driver turned left in front of the van and the two vehicles crashed. The impact threw the Jeep to the grass in front of the intersection, and the van rolled onto its side in the intersection.

One passenger in the Jeep, 47-year-old Shellie Noon, of Ogden, died. The other 14 people in the two vehicles suffered cuts, bruises, scrapes and broken bones, and were taken to local hospitals. They are expected to recover. Police did not know if they were wearing seat belts.

The intersection was closed for about three hours as several police agencies cleaned up the crash, which is under investigation.
