Orem police are searching for a man accused of a stabbing during an attempted robbery Saturday.

About 6:45 p.m., a 19-year-old man walked up to a woman in a parking lot and said he had been stabbed once in the abdomen, said Sgt. Shane Fredrickson.

The man told police another man had walked up to him near 800 East and 1200 South and demanded money. He refused to hand over cash and the two fought. The man who had demanded money pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim, then ran away.

The victim was taken to Utah Valley Hospital and held overnight for treatment of the wound, which was not considered life-threatening, Fredrickson said.

He described the alleged robber as about 5-feet-10-inches tall, medium build, with a shaved head and a moustache. The suspect had not been identified Sunday morning. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 801-229-7070.
