Police are looking for a woman who robbed a bank in West Valley City, but left the cash behind after she found out the hard way it was booby-trapped.

The woman walked into the Chase Bank at 3430 S. Redwood Road about 1:30 p.m. and handed the teller a note, said police Lt. Bill Merritt said. It claimed she had a weapon and demanded cash, though no weapon was seen.

Tellers handed her cash rigged with a dye pack, and she ran out of the west doors at the back of the bank. Police found the cash about 75 yards away, Merritt said.

Officers brought out a bloodhound to track her but lost the trail, leading them to believe she had a car waiting for her.

The woman is described as about 5-feet-6-inches to 5-feet-7-inches tall with a heavy build and long, wavy black hair. She was wearing a dark jacket and baggy black pants. She wore no gloves and her face was not covered, but the only teller who got a look at her remembered few details about her appearance and could not guess her age.
