Cedar City police are looking for a man who attacked a 19-year-old woman walking her dog Tuesday night.

The woman was at the track at Iron Springs Elementary School, 235 N. 4050 West, said police Lt. Keith Millett. About 10 p.m., she heard her dog growl.

She started to turn and the man attacked her from behind, Millett said. He threw her down on the grass, punched her in the face and started to take off her clothes, but she fought back. She kicked him in the side of the head, escaped and ran. He ran too, and she made it back home with the dog. She was not seriously injured.

The woman often walks the area, and police believe the man targeted her.

He is described as being a white man in his mid-to-late 20s, between 5-feet-10-inches and 6-feet-3-inches tall, wearing dark pants and a dark hooded sweatshirt. He had a three-to-four-day beard growth, a scruffy appearance and bad teeth.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 435-586-2956.
