A 25-year-old man was stabbed in the face and chest Friday night and hospitalized in critical condition, authorities said.

The stabbing was reported just after 9:30 p.m. The injured man called his wife, who then reported it to the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office. The stabbing occurred near 3900 South and 300 West in an industrial area near some storage sheds, said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Don Hutson.

When deputies arrived, the man told police the name of the man who stabbed him, Hutson said.

Investigators Friday night were still trying to locate the alleged attacker and determine a motive for the stabbing.

The injured man was taken to Intermountain Medical Center and was expected to survive his injures, Hutson said.
