Salt Lake City police arrested a 54-year-old man Friday morning after he exposed himself to two girls while they were walking to school.

Police got a call at 8:21 a.m. reporting that two girls, 6 and 9, were using a crosswalk at the intersection of 1300 South and 900 West when a man in a white car got their attention.

"When they looked over, he opened his door, exposed himself and performed a lewd act," said Salt Lake City Sgt. Robin Snyder.

The two girls ran to their nearby school and told a school employee. That worker then called police with a description of the man and his car. Police found the car, interviewed the man and arrested him on suspicion of two counts of lewdness involving a child.

Snyder said the two girls did everything right.

"They ran away, went to a person of authority and gave them a great description," Snyder said. "That's why we caught this guy."
