Police say a love triangle might have sent a Salt Lake City woman into a jealous rage, during which she stabbed one male lover in the chest and beat the other over the head with a baseball bat.
Salt Lake City Sgt. Robin Snyder said officers responded to a call from the stabbing victim just after 3 a.m. Friday morning. Police found a 46-year-old man with a stab wound to his chest and transported him to the hospital in serious condition.
The man told police he was stabbed while at a home near 800 North and Colorado Street (1340 West) The officers went to the house and found a second man, also in his 40s, with blood on his face. He had apparently been beaten in the head, Snyder said.
"There was a female and two males involved in some sort of sexual encounter," Snyder said. "The female suspect got jealous about what was going on between the two, so she stabbed one and beat the other with a baseball bat."
By the time officers got to the house, the woman was gone. Snyder said police have not yet found her, but they do know who they are looking for.
Snyder said it was unclear whether any of the three were in a serious relationship.
"I think they knew each other, but we don't know much more than that," Snyder said.
Police planned to interview the victims again later Friday after they had been treated by medical teams.
